About the Role
Barth Electric is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Design-Build Intern to support our project design and engineering teams. This part-time role is ideal for a student or early-career professional looking to gain hands-on experience in electrical construction, project design, and build processes. The intern will assist with design drawings, project documentation, and coordination while learning from experienced engineers and project managers.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation and review of electrical design drawings, schematics, and project documentation.
- Support project teams in design-build planning, coordination, and problem-solving.
- Help with material take-offs, cost estimates, and basic project calculations.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and field teams to ensure project requirements are understood and documented.
- Maintain project files, logs, and documentation for internal tracking.
- Participate in team meetings, site visits, and project reviews to gain practical experience.
- Learn and apply company processes, safety standards, and quality expectations.
Requirements
Currently enrolled in a college or university program in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Strong interest in electrical design, construction, and project management.
Basic understanding of electrical systems, CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, or similar), or willingness to learn.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Good communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Able to commit to part-time hours (flexible schedule to accommodate class commitments).
Preferred Attributes
Experience with design software, technical drawings, or hands-on construction projects.
Eagerness to learn and grow in a professional electrical contracting environment.
Positive attitude, proactive approach, and willingness to take on new challenges.
